More Bad Weather
The final full day of this search period at Clashgour Hut, Bridge of Orchy, Scotland
I had planned to carry out some search training with the dogs but sadly the weather conditions were not the best, instead I decided to hike up the trail that leads to Stob Ghabhar to keep the fitness levels up

Bad Weather Prevents Further Searching

After a night of very strong winds followed by a morning of snow, hail and freezing rain, it was time to break camp and leave the valley area north of Loch Dochard and head back to Clashgour Hut To carry out any further searching for any signs of missing hiker/camper Neil Skinner in these conditions would be very foolish Location; Loch Dochard, Bridge of Orchy, Scotland.

    Only recently came across your UA-cam site (was looking for review on the lowa hunters) working my way through your videos now, similar upbringing minus the violence luckily; joined military as soon able and never looked back. I don’t have a channel but am always away wild camping with my 2 dogs (Labradors) and I’m fortunate enough to Have been based in Scotland and never left so the wilds of Scotland are my playground maybe our paths will cross one day👍

That last area has not been covered by anyone including mountain rescue. Obviously be careful but I am sure you know what you’re doing. Please keep me updated. @@wendingourway Thank you Bruce. It’s been a tough few months, Stella has been in a bad way, I finally realised that the drugs the vet had prescribed for her were causing Ataxia… I know , I never heard the condition before either. Tried telling the vet the symptoms but the vet was just brushing it off as old age, I was hours from having Stella put to sleep. Thankfully I listened to my gut feelings and took her off the drug, slowly she’s improving but she’s basically been lying in a coma for four months. If I can get her back on her feet and walking again only time will tell. Meanwhile I’m keeping the other two monsters fit and ready so we can get back in the mountains, hopefully soon. @@K9OutdoorsSearchTeam So sorry to hear about Stella!! I know that feeling in the gut...as I have been having a few issues with Otis that the vet seems to be brushing off...I think it's his heart, but he seems to hear nothing abnormal...but even after a short little walk he is almost out of breathe, breathing uncontrollable, and his heart is racing. But of course, when we're at the vet no symptoms. Going to see a second opinion soon...but going to see if some cooling of the temperatures will help as it could be a response the the tremendous hot temps and incredible high humidity too. so basically you think he most likely over exhausted himself and run out of day light, and his camping kit wasnt with him? i just recently hiked from blair atholl to kingussie after finishing rob roy way. and day from a bothie(thats where is saw the leaflet about Ross) was challenging, after taking a hill i descended in moorland with bogs and barely visible path. i was navigating mostly with Hiiker app, which helped me a lot in this tough terrain. it was along the river mostly.

    • @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam
      @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam Місяць тому

      @@vvs3796 The day in question when Ross disappeared was the same day I was in the Oykle Bridge area fighting blizzards that were knee deep within a few hours. This when the forecasters gave an amber warning of 3-4 inches of snow in the high areas of Scotland. That same deep snow hit the Cairngorms during the day when Ross would have been hitting the second Munro summit, but the snow was far worse, much deeper and drifting. At 4pm I was recording temps of minus 9 Celsius with windchill around minus 12. I was lower than Ross would have been so I can only imagine the temps up on the Munros. With no kit, no shelter or sleeping bag, exhausted in that weather and those temps how long can you last ? Worse, it got dark around 4pm on that day. Ross was apparently seen heading from the second Munro to the third Munro around 3pm. It would have taken a good hour to get up there because the person that saw Ross spoke to him briefly and they said he looked exhausted.

      @@ianwatson194 A great decision regarding the personal locator beacon, I wish more people would carry one. The outstanding cases of people missing in the Scottish Highlands all seem to have a strange mixture of twists and turns that led to their disappearance. There is a lot more going on that I just can’t put my finger on. Bodies found in areas that have been searched multiple times both with dogs, helicopters and ground search teams. It just doesn’t add up. I know some conspiracy groups will say ufo’s, foul play or some kind of portals, I don’t think it’s anything as crazy as that but I do believe it’s more than hikers just getting lost.

    • @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam
      @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam 4 місяці тому

      The question is simply ‘do you believe the story’ ? Because I did at first but came across so many contradictions and variations that warning flags were coming up day by day. For example; 1. What was Neil going to do for 5 days alone at the loch, taking into account his age, he’s known to wander and get lost plus he has health issues? 2. If he’s known to wander then why would anyone leave him alone for 5 days? 3. The two friends have not spoken to anyone except the police, they didn’t turn up for the Hike for Neil Meet, why? 4. Why put posters up showing someone ten years younger of age when the family had recent photographs of Neil? 5. Why say Neil is a regular mountain walker and wild camper when in reality Neil had trouble walking the 5 miles to Loch Dochard? 6. Why state the weather was bad those days when in reality the weather was warm and sunny, it only turned on the day the alarm was raised? 7. Since when have people on a five day hiking/camping break decide to leave their dry tent, walk out into torrential rain, turn back at this first sign of rain, walk uphill in this pouring rain, then conduct a search in really bad weather, walk back to their car, completing an estimated 11 miles over 4 to 5 hours, to raise the alarm BUT bypassing a farm only a mile from Loch Dochard that is clearly sign posted. Then walk by several lodges/houses, again where they could raise the alarm, to arrive at their car at Victoria Bridge Car Park, to then drive to the nearby hotel to finally raise the alarm. It just doesn’t make sense at all. Trust me there is so much more I could say but I would be writing on here for days So the only other alternative is to question the story

      Think this could be a lifetime mission Bruce, hate giving up. As for the monsters, to be honest they are really good but it took a lot of hard work to get there. I always fret they might get cold at night but every morning I wake up in the tent I always find them eager to go and looking fine. Thanks for your support, it’s appreciated. Atb Bill and the three furballs.

    Have the friends not been interviewed by the police? That would verify if he told them to go on. 5 days wild camping at an unfit 71 yrs of age seems a dodgy story to me, particularly with different versions of events from family.

    • @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam
      @K9OutdoorsSearchTeam 5 місяців тому

      All we can get from the family member concerned is the police have spoken to the friends and the police are happy with their statements. Yes unfit, had a bleed on the brain several years earlier, on medication, suffers from Asperger’s, had a foot with possible arthritis. Then is supposed to have gone out for a morning stroll before a days worth of rain, without hiking poles or waterproofs, on terrain that is just big, marsh and full of holes. Doesn’t add up to us. What a day indeed!! Seems that the wind has died down somewhat too. Looks like the dogs are out for the evening. I know they are somewhat like Otis, never walking in a straight line and cover the same territory two or three times over! lol Keep up the great effort and I do hope you all have yourselves a relaxing weekend.

    I'm in scotland, if i or any of my family go missing i will be contacting you immediately. Very selfless of you to go out looking for people. This case raises red flags to me.

      Thank you, hopefully you remain safe and well. The case has so many issues and so many have said it just doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t help when the people you’re helping start obstructing because that definitely raises red flags. Take care, atb Bill.

    I see it was laundry day! LOL How's Stella making out? Indeed, there will always be some that think that there are ulterior motives for everything. You just keep doing what brings fulfillment to your own life. I just know it sure would make me feel good knowing that people like you would take your own time to just get out and take a look. Take good care out there and all the best always!

      Thanks Bruce, your kind words are appreciated. Sadly at times the people you believe you are helping are in reality for ‘different’ reasons not wanting your help nor showing you the respect you were expecting. I was very naive when I started this searching, I didn’t realise how complex the story would become. You can only give your best and hope some good people out there will see the good intentions I had. Take care my friend, atb Bill , wonky ear Rebel, scatty brain Rogue, and still ‘barely’ going Stella 👍

    All the best to some great success. We had rain for six days straight, but got lucky now with a couple days of sun in a row...just hope I haven't jinxed it! lol Oh my, Otis has to have every meal while laying on his bed...took me a long time to figure that one out to try to get him to eat when I first got him. Otis was probably thinking that it was certainly taking him a long time to train me! LOL Take good care now!

      Thanks Bruce, hope you and Otis are well? This was the first time I had set this tent up, didn’t really know what it would be like, we had hiked a good 8 miles, sadly I had to carry a 55 pound pack so I didn’t have any time to compose myself hence it was just an initial assessment. Nice spot too, surrounded by mountains, minutes after this video we were off searching in a nearby valley. Atb Bill and the three vagrants lol
